Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.
FOSTER PROGRAM
BEAR
Stats: X years old, male
Location: TX
Intake: 3/23/24
Adoption Fee: TBD
Bear is a happy-go-lucky young boy who found himself on the short end of a time limit at a tiny country shelter way up in the Panhandle of Texas. We are not exaggerating when we say that. The shelter literally made a post saying he had until last Friday to leave the shelter or he would have to be put down for space.
Bear was turned in without explanation as to why. There is a young lady locally who saw the shelter's post saying he only had until Friday and wasted no time setting up to adopt him and get him out of there, just to save him from being put down, while reaching out to us to see if we could help long-term. We commend her for her efforts - he is here today because of her compassion. Fortunately, we had a foster available so we could say yes.
So far, Bear has proven to be a super friendly, happy, get along with everyone, overgrown puppy. It's easy to see how someone unfamiliar with the breed and what they require could have been overwhelmed. Please, please, please, fully research ANY breed of dog before you decide to own one. Bear nearly lost his life because that was not done. We look forward to getting to know him more during his time with us. Keep an eye out for updates.
Welcome to LSAR Bear!
