Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

BONNIE
Stats: 2 years old, female
Location: Dallas, TX
Intake: 03/25/24
Adoption Fee: $275
Bonnie is a very friendly, 2-year-old, medium-high energy, 60 pound Aussie. She is a very energetic and happy dog. She loves nothing more than to zoom around the yard or the park with other dogs. She also loves her people. She often follows them around the house in whatever tasks they are doing. Bonnie LOVES her walks and time outside with her family. She is very well trained on her leash manners.
Bonnie will continue to need support in her weight loss journey. She has lost 10 pounds with her foster parents, but has about another 10 pounds to go. They have continuously stuck to walks every day, a lot of play time outside, and portioning her food. She needs exercise each and every day to help with her energy.
When Bonnie is not getting attention or enough of her energy out, she will set her sights elsewhere, whether that is playing with her foster siblings, chewing on toys, enrichment activities, lick mats, or playing outside. She needs a lot of physical activity and mental enrichment throughout the day.
Bonnie has been living with 2 cats and 3 dogs in her foster home. She gets along with everybody that she meets. She has also been around many children and welcomes all the pets and kisses that she can give. She does not shy away from any attention she can get from others.
Bonnie knows some basic commands such as sit, shake, and stay. She would benefit from a basic training course to learn other commands. She is eager to please and picks up some commands quickly. She still gets a little over excited when company comes into our home and we have been working (everyday) on calm greetings. She is house trained and crate trained.
Bonnie would be a really good dog for a family who is ready for adventures. She loves outside activities and playing with other dogs. Bonnie is no stranger to anyone and will always welcome you with her tongue hanging out of her mouth. She is such a goofy dog and would benefit tremendously from another dog in the home who can keep up with her zoomies around the yard.
Bonnie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, Heartworm negative and on monthly Heartworm and flea prevention.
