Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

CLAIRE
Stats: 7 years old, female
Location: Dallas, TX
Intake: April 09, 2022
Adoption Fee: $275
Claire is an estimated 7-year-old lower energy, 34 lb. Mini Aussie. She is a sweet, gentle soul who is a classic Velcro dog and will quietly tread along wherever you go. Claire is shy for just a minute when meeting new people or dogs, but quickly adapts to gentle pets from people or easy coexistence with other dogs. After her brief shyness, she gets along seamlessly with all dogs she’s met. Although she’s generally pretty low-key, she does enjoy playing with a younger puppy in her foster home!
Claire has flawless leash manners, loads right up in the car and rides perfectly, so will gladly accompany you anywhere! If she is uncertain of a situation, she looks to her person for reassurance. She would probably make a very nice, polite little partner to take along in stores, dog-friendly restaurants, etc.
Claire is housebroken and crate trained. She does have slight separation anxiety when left alone at first, but crates very nicely. She has lived with kitties in her foster home and co-exists, but will occasionally try to herd them, especially if they like to run and play. She’s happy to snuggle up next to you for quality time at home or find a comfy dog bed to settle in for the night.
Claire is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and current on Heartworm and flea prevention. She is being fostered in Dallas and is available for adoption in Texas and some areas of Oklahoma only. If chosen for adoption, you must be able to travel to Dallas within 7 days of application approval.
