Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

COLT
Stats: 1 year old, male
Location: Dallas, TX
Adoption Fee: $275
Requirements:
-
Confident playmate in the home
-
No children
-
Private fenced in yard - no apartments
This lovable goofy boy is ready to find his forever home. Colt is a medium energy 1 year old standard Aussie who weighs 43 lbs. His favorite things include wrestling with his foster siblings, hoarding and playing with toys, going on hikes, and cuddling with his people. He is also highly food motivated and loves learning new tricks.
Colt was raised in an outdoor pen with no human interaction and is still learning how trust people. For the first 3 weeks in foster care he was terrified of his foster parents but has made tremendous progress since then. After 2 months in foster care he LOVES his foster parents. He gets super excited and his tail never stops wagging. He will need a patient adopter willing to give him time to adjust, help him with his socialization and continue to boost his confidence.
We are requiring a home with other confident outgoing dogs since he HIGHLY relies on his playmates to feel comfortable around people. He tends to mimic what the other dogs do. He has a playful goofy puppy personality in an adult body and loves to wrestle and play tug of war with other dogs.
Due to his timid nature we will not review homes with children. He would do best in a home with lower traffic so he can be given the best chance to bond with and warm up to his people. Once he is bonded he does decently well meeting new people. Also due to this we are not reviewing apps without a fenced yard. He LOVES running zoomie laps around the yard but will take a long time to get a solid off leash recall with his people, so dog parks will be something for an adopter to work up to.
He is house trained and is trustworthy outside of a crate once he is comfortable. He knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. He loads up and rides in the car just fine. He gets along with dogs of all ages and personalities. He completely ignores cats and respects them.
