Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

COWBOY
Stats: 5 years old, male
Location: TX
Intake: 11/27/2024
Adoption Fee: $275
Social: #Cowboy502
Meet Cowboy! Cowboy is a 6 year old, 60 pound, medium/low energy boy with a heart full of love! This sweet and gentle guy is looking for a forever home where he can feel safe and cherished. He’s a huge fan of snuggles and will roll over for belly rubs on command, proving he’s a true lover at heart.
Cowboy has impressive recall off-leash, making him a great adventure buddy for those who enjoy the outdoors. He absolutely loves taking long walks, splashing around in the water, and going for car rides, where he happily settles in for the journey.
Cowboy has formed a wonderful bond with his foster sister and is known to ignore other dogs during walks, showing his calm demeanor. He also does fine with cats.
Cowboy adores his foster family, especially his granddaughters, who bring him so much joy. When you get home from work, he’s ready and waiting for dinner and a nice walk to enjoy together.
Coming from a home where he wasn’t socialized, Cowboy can be shy around strangers and takes his time to warm up to new people and places. He has been working with a trainer on this and is making progress. He may not adapt to new situations quickly, but with patience and love, he’ll blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion.
If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle, and loving addition to your family, Cowboy is your guy! Come meet him and see if you can be the perfect match for this big, cuddly boy.
He is being fostered in Dallas and is available for adoption in Texas and parts of Oklahoma.
