HONEY
Stats: female, 1 year old (petite)

Location: Dallas, TX

Adoption Fee: $275

Social: #HONEY508

Honey is a medium-high energy, super sweet, 1 year old, petite 35 lb. Border Collie mix. She loves catching a frisbee, wrestling with her foster siblings, going off leash hiking, and snuggling on the couch.

She learns commands pretty easily and has earned her novice trick title. She has already mastered several commands such as sit, stay, come, leave it, shake, center, and wipe your paws.

She was originally found with a broken leg after being hit by a car. The finders were generous enough to cover her vetting and keep her through the entire recovery. While her broken bone has fully healed, she also suffered from carpal hyperextension. She has been seen by an orthopedic surgeon and gone through rehab with a physical therapist. She has made a lot of improvement, but will need to continue to strengthen that joint. This includes exercises and wearing a brace while on walks. She is also on daily joint supplements and a yearly joint injection. She will not be able to do high impact sports like agility or fly ball, but otherwise she is a completely normal girl!

Honey is fairly energetic and needs lots of playtime, both indoor and outdoor, along with daily mental enrichment, to manage that energy. The ideal home for Honey will have a friendly playmate and owners who will play fetch and take her on walks and adventures while incorporating learning new things and brushing up on existing skills regularly. She is excellent off leash and enjoys hiking or going to a large field to play frisbee.

She is amazing out in public and on leash. She has zero reactivity even when other dogs bark at her and is great about ignoring everything in general. Despite being obsessed with meeting new people, she does great ignoring people in crowded places and just focusing on you. She makes an excellent patio dog and will just sleep by the table no matter how loud or busy it is. She does take a bit to warm up to other dogs, so she would do best with consistent play dates verse going to dog parks.

She absolutely loves her humans! She has never met a stranger either and everyone who meets her has fallen in love with how sweet she is. She will stretch her paws as high as she can reach on your chest and stare at you to pet her. She has been living with cats in the home and does okay. She will chase, but if the cat swats at her, she respects it. If she is with a cat that won’t react back she tends to want to wrestle with them like another dog and can be too rough.

Honey is crate trained, but can be trusted with free reign of the house for long periods of time.

Honey is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed, and on monthly Heartworm and flea prevention.

Honey is being fostered in Dallas and will require the adopter to travel to meet her within 7 days of approval.
