Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

LADY (RM)
Stats: 11 years old, female
Location: Austin, TX
Adoption Fee: $150
Little Lady (Sr.) is an 11-year-old, 35 lb., spunky mini girl who is full of love and quite spoiled! She came to us so very sick, but now that she is healthy and well, her personality has blossomed, and she is such a character! She’s the consummate Velcro dog, so when you move, she moves. She’s a polite little snuggler on the couch while you watch tv or will curl up in a cozy dog bed. We mentioned she’s spoiled – we’ve intentionally allowed that, and she 100% deserves it. She can be a vocal girl when she’s trying to get her point across as in when it's bedtime, but will usually wait politely for you to invite her up (or lift her up, but she does well with an intermediate step up). Once in bed, she stays almost perfectly still all night until you’re up and ready for the day.
She’s excellent with all dogs and pays no attention to resident kitties. She’s friendly with everyone she’s met, both in public and coming into her foster home. She has been learning from her foster siblings that when leashes come out, it means good times! She wants to go wherever you’re going and is working on becoming more comfortable in the car. She has nice leash manners while out walking or going into places.
Lady is completely housebroken and trustworthy home alone, though she enjoys when someone is home during the day, too. She’ll be excitedly waiting for you to return! She does have allergies and takes a daily antihistamine ($11/mo.) to help control it. She may do well with a Cytopoint allergy shot as well. When she was rescued, she had skin infections and untreated allergies that caused a lot of hair to fall out, but it is growing back! She has some arthritis in her neck and back, so she takes a daily joint supplement currently ($12/mo.).
Lady is up to date on all core vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and current on heartworm and flea prevention. She is being fostered in Austin and is available to adopt in Texas and some areas of Oklahoma only. If chosen, you must be able to travel to Austin within 7 days of application approval.
