Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

LADY
Stats: 11 years old, female
Location: TX
Intake: 11/09/2022
Adoption Fee: TBD
Yesterday we were able to give this sweet old girl her freedom ride! We've named her Lady and she's estimated to be 11 years old. We were contacted by a city shelter asking if we could help a sad case of a senior who was brought in as a stray in rough shape and unclaimed. The obvious thing is this poor old girl's missing hair and skin that is in terrible shape (see another pic of her poor bald body in the comments). What you can't see is that her underside has multiple cancerous mammary tumors.
She went straight from the shelter to a vet for a full work-up. X-rays show her heart and lungs *look* to be ok, without noted metastasis at this time and we're praying it stays that way. Her exam was fair, considering the rough shape she's in. Her poor skin was covered in layers of crud with yeast emanating from her. Her bloodwork showed a few things of moderate concern that we're going to monitor and recheck, but thankfully, she's Heartworm negative. First order of business is to get her skin in somewhat better condition, then recheck with the vet to see if she can safely go into surgery to remove all the mammary tumors. We hope we continue to have more positive news as we work through her issues and hope to give her a forever home.
She's a sweet, still somewhat spunky, little old lady who is quite the talker once she's comfortable! We look forward to learning more of her sweet little disposition as we help her heal. Keep an eye out for more updates. Welcome to LSAR Lady!
