Meet LEXI, an 11-month-old, medium-high energy, standard Aussie who weighs 39 lbs. and is playful, happy, and energetic! Lexi is definitely NOT a couch potato and is looking for an active home with someone interested in daily exercise, social activities with people and dogs, and training! She easily adapts to running, hiking, swimming, or pretty much any outdoor activity she can do with her person! This sweet girl is ready for her new home and whatever adventures await! She has great potential for dog sports with her keen drive and smarts. Her favorite things include playing with other dogs, playing in her water bowl, belly rubs, and attention. She also has the SOFTEST fur and cutest freckles!
Lexi enjoys going on car rides and will lay down quietly in the back seat until at the destination. She gets along well with all other dogs she has met. She does not do well around cats due to her high prey drive or small children as becomes overstimulated leading to excessive herding behavior kicking in. She enjoys playing at the edge of water to cool off and will occasionally swim a bit. She can be a bit vocal when she wants to play but is learning to be quiet and leave it. She needs an adopter who will continue to work on this with her.
Lexi currently lives with one other dog and LOVES to play with him. She loves to chase or be chased at the park and play tug-of-war with toys. She has been on a few social outings and got excited when she saw other dogs but relaxed next to the table after some redirection. She enjoys exploring new trails or parks as long as she has her water bowl. She is decent on a leash but does enjoy stopping and sniffing all things, so needs continued work to understand when it’s dedicated exercise walking time or a leisurely sniffy walk.
Lexi is smart and food-driven. She knows sit, down, stay, place, paw, leave it, drop it, come, and up. She will love continuing to learn new things through daily training with her family. She is very much in her puppy stage and loves to have something to chew on whether it be a toy, bone or the occasional item she stole from around the house. She does well in the crate and will go in with the command “in.” When she is ready to wake up, she will give a little whine or bark to let you know she’s ready for the day!
Lexi is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, Heartworm negative, and current on Heartworm and flea prevention. She is being fostered in the Fort Worth area and is available for adoption in Texas and some areas of Oklahoma only. If chosen for adoption, you must be able to travel to Fort Worth within 7 days of application approval.
