Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

Location: Austin, TX
Adoption Fee: $275 +tax
REQUIREMENTS:
-
Fenced Yard and another playful dog
We’re excited to find the perfect home for Maggie! She’s a 2 year old, lower to medium energy, petite girl who weighs 34 lbs. and is nothing but sweet to anyone she meets!
Maggie is a bit shy in a dog park environment, but LOVES being in the company of other playful dogs she knows! She has been around many different dogs, and done well with all. She loves to wrestle, play chase, and run with her foster siblings while they play fetch. She’s not much into fetch herself but does love to play with toys.
Her disposition is a typical velcro Aussie who would like nothing more than to be with you at all times. She’s happy to sit on the floor in her foster dad’s home office while he works. She is gentle and sweet, whether she is taking a pill or treat from your hand, or gingerly crawling onto the couch to snuggle.
Maggie is crate trained and goes in her crate without complaint, especially if there’s a nice bed for her to lay on. She is said to be good with cats and children, but she has not been around either while in our care.
Maggie has epilepsy and came to us after her family was not able to give her the required medications when needed, which led to seizure episodes. She now takes two different medications to prevent seizures that MUST be given on a strict schedule 12 hours apart. Her seizures have been controlled with the current regimen. The cost of her current medications is $50/month and she will need to stay on medication for life. She also has a very sensitive stomach, possibly irritable bowel syndrome, so she is on a novel protein diet that has finally worked best for her. The cost of the special food is $80/month.
Maggie is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, Heartworm negative, and current on Heartworm and flea prevention. She is being fostered in the Austin area and is available for adoption in Texas and some areas of Oklahoma only. If chosen for adoption, you must be able to travel to Austin within 7 days of application approval.
