Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!

LADY

Lady is an 11.5-year-old, low-energy female Aussie mix who weighs 42 lbs. She is a sweet, easy, and calm girl, who is looking for a loving forever home where she can soak up all the attention for the rest of her golden years. She gets along with people of all ages, cats, and dogs, but would prefer to be the only dog or live with smaller/older/lower energy dogs who will respect her space.
Even though she’s generally low energy, she gets a little pep in her step when the leash comes out! She really enjoys neighborhood walks where she can take time to sniff and explore. Lady had a previous leg injury that gives her a slight limp but doesn’t cause her any pain - she can get up and down the stairs without issue and only needs a little help getting up on the couch or into her foster family’s truck. Once loaded, she loves to ride in the car!
She loves to snuggle with her foster family in the evenings and will give firm nudges with her nose to make sure that the petting never stops! Lady is quiet and rarely barks (both inside and outside of the house). She likes to spend time in the backyard with her family, soaking up the sun on the deck – especially rolling around on her back to get in some good scratches. Lady really enjoys horn and antler chews, but hasn’t shown any interest in toys, playing, or fetch. She also hasn’t shown much interest in learning tricks but will respond to verbal commands or corrections and treats when they come out. Lady’s coat was in rough shape initially, but she has tolerated a lot of grooming by her foster mom, and will continue to look better as her new healthy coat grows in.
Lady is crate and housetrained and has been left loose in her foster home without incident while her foster family is at school and work. She sleeps quietly through the night (except for some light snoring!) on a dog bed on the floor next to her foster mom’s bed.
Lady is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all core vaccines, and on monthly Heartworm and flea prevention. She is being fostered in the Austin area and is available to adopt in Texas and some areas of Oklahoma only. If chosen, you must be able to travel to Austin within 7 days of application approval.
