Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

Meet Murphy! He's estimated to be about 4 years old. He was seen wandering around the country town by several folks just before the 4th of July. He eventually took refuge under someone's vehicle. They were kind enough to provide him with food, water, and a safe spot for a bit. After no one responded looking to their "found dog" posts online, he was responsibly taken to the local animal shelter. No one reclaimed him there either, so they shelter reached out to see if we could help him. Weeks passed as we had no one available to offer him a foster home. We worried what might have happened to him as the shelters are overflowing with abandoned, surrendered, and found pets. When we finally had a foster available, he was still there! Much appreciation especially to these smaller shelters who try so hard to give the pups a chance, even though they are working with such limited resources.
Murphy is a very sweet boy with everyone he's met so far. He's due for his 1st vet visit later this week, so fingers crossed, he doesn't have Heartworms. He is very underweight. His skin is a bit of a mess, so he may have a skin infection as well. He has very large callouses on his elbows and he's worn his bottom incisors down to nubs. We look forward to being able to turn things around for him!
Welcome to LSAR Murphy!
