Murphy is a 2-year-old, low to medium energy, 55 lb. standard Aussie who came into rescue when her owner suddenly passed away.  She is a super loving and friendly dog who has never met a stranger. She especially loves snuggling with her person, greeting company, or going anywhere she might get more attention from others. She would likely thrive in a home with multiple people or a family with older kids in the home.

Murphy is working on leash manners and building confidence on walks. She is very food motivated and enjoys training. She is also house trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. She rides great in a car and is ready for any outing.

Despite having grown up with a sibling and another dog in the home, Murphy needs to be and thoroughly enjoys being an only dog. She has shown resource guarding in her foster home towards other dogs over food or “her” person. She is also leash reactive to a dog if they are reactive towards her first, but she behaves well on leash near other dogs in social settings if they are not reactive.

Murphy is looking for a home that will be content with her as an only pet for the remainder of her life (potentially another 13 years) and she will give so much love to her family in return! She did live with a cat in her prior home but has not been around one with us.

Murphy is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and current on Heartworm and flea prevention. She is being fostered in Dallas and is available for adoption in Texas and some areas of Oklahoma only. If chosen for adoption, you must be able to travel to Dallas within 7 days of application approval.
