  • No other dogs in the home

  • Willing to continue working on confidence building and training

Murphy is a 2-year-old, low to medium energy, 55 lb. standard Aussie who came into rescue when her owner suddenly passed away. She is a loving, friendly dog who seems to enjoy the attention from any person she’s interacted with so far, and especially loves snuggling with her person. She is housebroken, crate-trained, and knows basic commands.

Because of her original owner's health issues, she missed some critical time for socialization and exposure to the world in general. She is working on leash manners and building confidence on walks. She has improved significantly but needs continued exposure to new things with reassurance that there is nothing to fear. She is very food motivated and enjoys training, so putting her in a sit, focus, reward helps her past obstacles.

Despite having grown up with a sibling and another dog in the home, she needs to be an only dog. She has shown resource guarding in her foster home towards other dogs over food or “her” person. She is also leash reactive to a dog if they are reactive towards her. She generally does not initiate the behavior though.

Murphy is looking for a foster to adopt home that will be content with her as an only pet for the remainder of her life (potentially another 13 years) and she will give so much love to her family in return!

Murphy is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and current on Heartworm and flea prevention. She is being fostered in College Station and is available for adoption in Texas and some areas of Oklahoma only. If chosen for adoption, you must be able to travel to College Station within 7 days of application approval.
