Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

Where to start with this one... Welcome Scout to LSAR!
He is a 3-year-old boy who got a freedom ride yesterday from the shelter. The sad fact is that we get so many requests for help on a daily basis, we can't even respond to them all. There are simply not enough foster homes or manpower to manage them. But, when we see one like this come through - we try our best to help the dog if there's any way we can. Scout was at yet another very small local shelter here in Texas, and they put out a plea for a rescue group to help him. He was surrendered after being found with these horrible wounds covering one side of his body. His intake pictures are heartbreaking, and after spending nearly a week at the vet, thanks to the ACO's compassion for getting him proper treatment. The vet who treated him for the shelter said these are 3rd degree burns; we won't speculate as to how he got them.
It's evident they are healing, but definitely have a ways to go. He's headed in to see one of our vets as well to see if there's anything additional we should be doing and to most likely get him started on laser treatments to help in healing.
Aside from that, Scout is the happiest, friendliest, spunkiest boy so far! He hasn't met a stranger yet, person or dog, and we hope it stays that way! Keep an eye out for more updates on Scout as he heals and we get to know him better.
If you'd like to help support his care, or that of the other Aussies in our rescue, donations are always welcome.
Adoption applications for this pet will not be accepted at this time. All incoming Aussies are evaluated for a minimum 3 weeks to allow to them time to decompress and receive any necessary medical care. Applications will be accepted only when the pet's full and complete bio is posted here/facebook.
