George is a handsome 10-12 yr old, 43 lb small standard aussie with the soul of a grandpa! He loves to lounge around, cuddle up next to you on the sofa, and lavish in the luxury of never-ending pets.

While George is not very interested in toys or other forms of puppy entertainment, George LOVES walks, being outside with his person, and has warmed up quite nicely to doggie play dates. He is a total social butterfly who loves going out to happy hour or to meet new humans just as much as he enjoys laying on the couch cuddling. George does fantastic in the car (very rare car sickness has occurred) and wants to be invited on every trip possible. He also seems very intrigued by water (lakes, ponds, etc.), which might be something to explore with him. These situations work his mind and make him happy from receiving all the pets! George would love an adopter who will take him out often as part of the family and indulge him in his desire for attention.

After he has some time to settle in, George would do well with another calm souled fur-sibling in the house, dog or cat! He would also be completely fine as an only-child, as long as he had some sort of positive dog interactions on a regular basis to continuing working those skills and to make him happy.

Although he is a total love bug and a complete sweetheart, George does have some quirks. He can be scared quite easily and he is very sensitive about being touched in the wrong places, especially when it comes to grooming. He is also sensitive about receiving face kisses. For these reasons he would do best in a child-free, calm household with a patient owner who has the time and knowledge to continue working on these areas.

George is house-trained and can be trusted home alone uncrated. However, he does sometimes have accidents if left alone for long stretches of time, so he would do best with an owner who isn’t gone from the home all day.

George came to us positive for Heartworms. He was seen by a vet on intake and multiple times since then and we were advised to pursue a slow-kill method of treatment based on his age, symptoms, and overall condition at the time. While he does have a reminiscent cough when first awakening and every so often, he thankfully does not have appreciable signs of change in his heart or lungs on x-rays or via physical exam. We will continue to provide his Heartworm prevention as treatment until he tests negative. He had bloodwork done as part of his intake vetting and seems to be in pretty good shape overall! He does have some arthritis that he takes daily joint supplements for and needs to be maintained at his current weight to help keep the effects of arthritis at bay. He also had a badly needed dental with us, so his teeth are in great shape now and just need regular maintenance!

George is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and current on Heartworm and flea prevention. He is being fostered in the DALLAS area and is available for adoption in Texas and some areas of Oklahoma only. If chosen for adoption, you must be able to travel to Dallas within 7 days of application approval.
