Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.
FOSTER PROGRAM
STITCH
Stats: 4 months old, male
Location: Dallas, TX
Intake: August 2025
Adoption Fee: $325
Social: #Stitch524
Meet Stitch! Stitch is an adorable 12-week-old double Merle Australian Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his personality. We believe he is half poodle and are awaiting his DNA results. He is a larger puppy and should be at least 40-50 pounds full grown. Although he is deaf, Stitch doesn’t let that slow him down—he’s a wonderful listener in his own unique way and is eager to learn. His disability does not limit his ability to connect, understand, and enjoy life to the fullest. He does not have any vision impairment, but is sensitive to sunlight.
Stitch has done exceptionally well with his training and has quickly picked up on communication through visual cues and hand signals. He knows how to come when called, sit, and settle in when asked. His intelligence and willingness to please makes him a joy to work with, and he continues to impress everyone with his adaptability. He is also doing very well with his house training and crate training.
This sweet boy loves being outdoors, whether it’s exploring the yard, or simply enjoying the fresh air. Stitch is a snuggle enthusiast—he adores cuddle time and will happily curl up with you after a fun-filled day. He’s playful and enjoys romping around with his sister and foster siblings, and he gets along wonderfully with people. He is still learning boundaries with other dogs and that not everyone wants to play all the time. Stitch’s happy-go-lucky nature shines through in everything he does, making him a delightful companion.
Stitch is searching for a loving forever home where he can continue to thrive. He would do best with a family who appreciates his unique needs and is committed to ongoing training and enrichment. An ideal home would also include a playmate who can continue to teach him boundaries in an appropriate manner, and an adopter who will continuously socialize him and expose him to different things. Like any Aussie puppy, we can assume he will be medium to high energy and need daily mental enrichment and physical exercise.
We believe that he is half Poodle, which will make his grooming requirements higher maintenance than your typical Aussie. We anticipate he WILL shed and an adopter should plan for typical Aussie level shedding. He will require daily brushing to prevent mats and professional trimming every 6-8 weeks.
He is being fostered in Dallas and is available for adoption in Texas and parts of Oklahoma. His adoption fee is $325 and you can complete an adoption application online. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us saying you are interested in Stitch.
Please note: All our dogs are adopted as inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and heartworm prevention. – NO EXCEPTIONS.
