TUCKER
Stats: 2 years old, male (mini)

Location: Austin, TX

Intake: 08/20/2023

Adoption Fee: $275

Tucker is a medium energy, 2-year-old mini-Aussie, who weighs 34 pounds. Tucker is a happy, friendly, and social guy looking for a busy family to go on all the outings with! He loves to play tug of war and wrestle with his foster sister and is obsessed with the squirrels in his backyard. He also loves pulling his stuffed toys apart, chewing on bones, and chasing balls (but rarely brings them back!).

He is great with kids of all ages, and frequently showers his 9- and 12-year-old human siblings with kisses. He happily and excitedly greets all visitors, canine and human, into his foster home, and settles in after a few minutes of jumping and bouncing about. Tucker was trained extensively by his previous owners, so is great with all the basic commands and is eager and attentive to learn more, especially when the treats come out. Being the social, curious boy that he is, Tucker isn’t great with recall – but he is a smart boy and should continue to improve with regular training and practice.

Tucker lives with 3 cats and has shown no aggression – in fact, he is a little timid around the cats after one of them showed him who was boss on day 1! Tucker loves riding in the car and going to the dog park and was a great traveler and camper with his previous family. He does well on a leash, only pulling a little when he wants to say hi to another interesting dog or person walking by.

Tucker is fully housebroken and has been left loose in the house the entire time he’s been with his foster family. Tucker does counter surf or will try to sneakily grab things he finds interesting within reach (socks, wrappers, etc.), so his foster mom makes sure the house is picked up or doors are closed. He always responds well to correction when caught in the act, though! At night he sleeps soundly and quietly on a Kuranda bed right next to his foster mom’s bed and likes to nap tucked into the corner by her desk during the day. Tucker would thrive in a home with another doggie playmate with a similar energy level, and/or with an active and social family – he truly knows no strangers! He adores his family but is also independent and easily takes cues from his older foster sister about space, playtime, and sharing toys. Tucker is scared of loud noises, including thunder, and will seek out a safe lap for reassurance. Overall, Tucker is a cheerful, well-behaved, and lovable young pup.

Tucker is up to date on all core vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and current on heartworm and flea prevention. He is being fostered in Austin and is available to adopt in Texas and some areas of Oklahoma only. If chosen, you must be able to travel to Austin within 7 days of application approval.
