Tucker is a 32-pound, 1.5-year-old sweetheart mini Aussie! Don’t let his age fool you, Tucker is a medium energy pup who loves a good walk and play session, but give him a rainy day and he loves snuggling on the couch with you too. He loves to play fetch or carry around one of his stuffed animals inside. During his walks, Tucker loves nothing more than a new path where he can explore all of his new surroundings and sniff around. He also enjoys car rides where he can join you running errands, visits to the local farmer’s market, or a trip to a patio cafe where he can get some socialization in.

Tucker is a smart boy who learns a routine quickly. When it comes to learning new tricks, sometimes his excitement for the treats can get the best of him, but he’s learning to be patient and good things will come.

So far, he has successfully mastered sit, lie down, and is currently working on shake and stay. Tucker is well-mannered when it comes to sharing his toys, water/food bowl, and even attention with people and visiting friends’ dogs. Some areas he is still working on include jumping on you when excited, begging for food, and the very occasional leash pulling when he finds a dog/human he just really wants to say hello to.

Tucker is a classic velcro dog who gets very attached to his person, and does exhibit some separation anxiety when left alone. He has not exhibited any destructive behavior, but will periodically bark or howl while you are gone. Giving him a proper, consistent routine has helped with this, but he will most likely do best with someone who works from home, or has a flexible schedule where he is not left home alone for more than a few hours at a time. Tucker is fully potty trained, and can stay uncrated while alone, but as mentioned will likely wait by the door or window until you are back. At night he is left free roaming and will happily sleep on your bed if you let him.

Tucker previously lived with several small dogs and has stayed with multiple large dogs in a home, but he is insecure at first around certain dogs, especially those larger than him. He will give a warning to the new dog when he’s uncomfortable and once he realizes they will give him space, he quickly adapts and interacts with them. Therefore, although Tucker tends to do well with other dogs in a controlled environment, it would be best not to put him in a dog park where there are too many dogs he does not know. Play dates have been successful with him as well as meet and greets with other dogs while walking. When it comes to people, give him a treat and some scratches and you’re in! Tucker warms up to strangers pretty fast and once he does, he will nuzzle right up against you. Beware though, Tucker’s good looks will get you stopped while on outings and his sweet personality warms their hearts instantly! He also does fine with cats in the home.

Tucker is up to date on vetting, neutered, Heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly Heartworm and flea prevention. He is being fostered in Denton and are available for adoption in Texas and some areas of Oklahoma only. If chosen for adoption, you must be able to travel to Denton within 7 days of application approval.
