Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

VIOLET
Stats: 2 years old, female
Location: Dallas, TX
Intake: 02/2026
Adoption Fee: $275
Social: #Violet541
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - VIOLET
Violet is a low-medium energy, super sweet, 2-3 year old, 45 lb. standard Aussie. She loves going for walks, meeting new people, belly scratches, and snuggling on the couch.
While she is not a huge fetch dog, she does enjoy chasing the other dogs while they play. She will play a little fetch with stuffed toys inside, but she gets distracted quickly.
Violet was a stray found in the country and has clearly already had several litters at her young age. She has adapted really well to being an inside pet.
Violet occasionally likes to wrestle with other dogs once she gets to know them, but she is over it quickly. She can be bossy with new dogs in the home and tends to take a few days to accept them. She is a more dominant female with other dogs, but corrects very quickly to verbal cues. She is low energy but excitable and will happily go on longer walks or hikes. Cuddling and just being with her people are her absolute favorite things, though.
The ideal home for Violet will have a social adopter that will take her out and about. She does excellent in busy city settings and on patios. She will sometimes bark back if another dog is barking at her first. She is working on off leash skills, but still has to use a long line. When she meets new people, she will not jump up and instead just rolls on her back.
She has been living with cats in the home and will chase. There has been a few times that she has tried to grab at cats, so a cat free home might be ideal.
Violet is crate trained and has not been tested out due to chasing cats. She would likely be fine as she has no interest in chewing on things and has never had an accident. She does not appear to have any separation anxiety. She also knows basic commands and is decently food motivated, but gets bored with training sessions quickly.
Violet is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed, and on monthly Heartworm and flea prevention.
Violet is being fostered in Dallas and will require the adopter to travel to meet him within 7 days of approval. Her adoption fee is $275 and you can complete an adoption application. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us saying you are interested in Violet.
Please note: All our dogs are adopted as inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention - NO EXCEPTIONS!
