Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

WHISKEY SR.

Whiskey Sr. is an 11-year-old, 57 lb. standard boy who is easily one of the best dogs we have met! He enjoys nothing more than being with his person and there is no end to the loving he will soak up! Don’t let his age fool you – he still has plenty of spunk in him! He is an avid toy fanatic and his new family must provide him with an abundance of stuffed toys as he loves to go from one to another and carries them to his favorite sleeping spots! His toys only run a close second to his love of his family – this boy is a true Velcro dog. All you have to do is look his way and he starts wiggling that adorable nub as fast as he can. He’s happy to rest next to you on the couch and will wait until he’s invited up on the bed, but once you give him the cue, he’ll snuggle up to you all night!
Whiskey also enjoys playing fetch with either a ball or one of his beloved toys. He gets along amazingly well with any animal he has met so far – dogs, cats, and horses, but is very sensitive and takes it very personally if a dog is unkind to him. He is not interested in playing with other dogs, but will coexist with nice, easy-going dogs seamlessly. He would probably also enjoy being an only dog to get all the love and attention!
Whiskey walks perfectly on a leash and enjoys accompanying you wherever you go. He is a great car rider and always ready to head out on any trip. Whiskey is very well mannered in social settings and would love hanging out with you at patio restaurants, etc. He would love a home where someone is home most of the day or where he can accompany his person to work. He is housebroken and trustworthy left uncrated if left alone. He does get anxious at first when left alone and will try looking out the windows for his person, but once he is settled in, he is content to hang out and snooze waiting for you to return. Maintaining his coat is a breeze because he just lays back and soaks up the attention while you brush him.
There isn't a person Whiskey has met yet that he doesn't like. We recommend no children under 12 years as he does tend to jump up trying to grab his toys and has been working on this. He is a smart boy who is eager to please and has already learned sit, down, off, fetch, drop it, leave it, and sits waiting eagerly to be told to eat.
Whiskey is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, Heartworm negative, and is current on Heartworm and flea prevention. He is being fostered in the Dallas area and is available for adoption in Texas and some areas of Oklahoma only. If chosen for adoption, you must be able to travel to Dallas within 7 days of application approval.
