Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

CHEVY
Stats: 9 years old, male
Location: Austin, TX
Intake: November 2025
Adoption Fee: $150
Social: #Chevy532
REQUIREMENTS:
-
no kids under 12
Chevy is a 9 year-old, medium energy, standard male who is gorgeous, affectionate, and loves being close to his people. He currently weighs 62.5 lbs. He’s always eager for kisses and scratches and truly enjoys spending time with his humans—whether relaxing indoors or hanging out together outside.
While Chevy has an energetic side (especially when squirrels are involved!), he is generally content and laid-back, happy to lounge nearby and keep you company. He is well trained, knows basic commands, and walks well on a leash. Walks are one of his favorite activities, and he gets very excited the moment his leash comes out. He enjoys and rides well in the car.
Chevy is fully house trained and adapts well to new environments. He currently lives peacefully with a female Aussie. He has done well in other foster homes with male dogs, but is best with non-dominant males. When meeting new humans, he may bark for a minute until he knows the new humans are friendly and willing to give pets. He would not do well in a home with kids under 12 years old.
Chevy is a known counter surfer, so consistent management will be important in his new home. When left alone, he can become very curious about different smells and may grab items to investigate, explore and taste them. He has not been destructive of items in his home.
Chevy is a sweet, loving companion and will be will be a devoted companion to his forever family!
Chevy is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly prevention. He is available for adoption to homes within Texas only, and, in some cases, Oklahoma.
Chevy is being fostered in Austin and will require the adopter to travel to him. His adoption fee is $150 and you can complete an adoption application. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us saying you are interested in Chevy.
Please note: All our dogs are adopted as inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention - NO EXCEPTIONS!
