Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

Adoption Fee: TBD
Social: #Levi509 (#Rowdy509)
We've had a bit of a whirlwind week trying to help this sweet boy who caught our attention. His name is Levi (formerly Rowdy) and he's right at 1 year old. He comes from a country town and ended up with a broken leg after kids at his home ran over him with a four-wheeler. But it gets better...the solution to him having a broken leg was going to be shooting him. Lucky for him, there are some rescues who jump at a moment's notice to help if they can. In this case, Angel Paws Advocates hurried to help and got him safely to their vet for an initial exam to determine the extent of his injury. We partnered with them to get him moved over to our rescue and taken care of with surgery and basic vetting (of which he had none previously).
His leg sustained a pretty rough break, though "clean" enough to enable a pretty straight-forward surgery. Thanks to a wonderful LSAR Alum who transported him to our vet, he was able to have surgery done today! His leg now has a plate and screws. The surgeon said the surgery went well. He'll have the standard ortho post-op recovery period, then he'll still need to get fixed.
Everyone who has met him so far has said he's such a sweetheart! We look forward to getting to know him and helping him heal. Welcome to LSAR Levi!!
We'll probably be putting together a wish list for some essentials for ortho post ops to provide mental enrichment in spades while he's on lockdown, so keep an eye out!
