Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.
FOSTER PROGRAM
LILO
Stats: 4 months old, female
Location: Dallas, TX
Intake: August 2025
Adoption Fee: $325
Social: #Lilo523
Meet Lilo! Lilo is an endearing 12-week-old double Merle Australian Shepherd mix with a heart as big as her boundless energy. We believe she is half poodle and awaiting her DNA results. She is a larger puppy and should be at least 40-50 pounds full grown. Despite having microphthalmia and being blind in her right eye, Lilo never lets anything hold her back. Her foster family marvels at how she navigates life just like any other puppy, thriving on backyard adventures, joyfully chasing toys, and discovering the world with endless curiosity and zest.
Lilo has done exceptionally well with her training and impresses everyone with how quickly she learns new things. She knows how to come when called, sit, and settle in when asked.
Naturally affectionate, Lilo delights in curling up for cozy cuddles after a fun-filled day. Her resilience and gentle nature make her an extraordinary companion, bringing immeasurable joy to those around her. She is playful and enjoys romping around with her brother and foster siblings, and she gets along wonderfully with people.
Lilo is searching for a loving forever home that will cherish her uniqueness and celebrate her joyful spirit. She would do best with a family who appreciates her unique needs and is committed to ongoing training and enrichment. An ideal home would also include a playmate who can continue to teach her boundaries in an acceptable manner, and an adopter that will continuously socialize her and expose her to different things. Like any Aussie puppy, we can assume she will be medium to high energy and need daily mental enrichment and physical exercise.
Her eyes should not need any further medical treatment, but she is sensitive to bright sun. She might be partially deaf, but can hear commands just fine. We also believe that she is half Poodle, which would make her grooming requirements higher maintenance than your typical Aussie. We anticipate she WILL shed and an adopter should plan for typical Aussie level shedding. She will require daily brushing to prevent mats and professional trimming every 6-8 weeks.
She is being fostered in Dallas and is available for adoption in Texas and parts of Oklahoma. His adoption fee is $325 and you can complete an adoption application. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us saying you are interested in Lilo.
Please note: All our dogs are adopted as inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and heartworm prevention. – NO EXCEPTIONS.
