Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

MANO
Stats: 5 years old, male
Location: Austin, TX
Intake: June 2026
Adoption Fee: $275
Social: #Mano557
Meet Mano! He is a sweet, affectionate 5-year-old Aussie weighing 64 pounds, and his favorite place in the world is right by his people. Mano is the perfect mix of playful and devoted. He loves a good game of fetch and is just as happy to curl up for snuggles the moment you sit down.
Mano is friendly and social everywhere he goes, whether that is out on a walk, riding in the car, or meeting new people and dogs. He has no leash reactivity, greets new dogs with a wagging tail and calm curiosity, and has been reported to do well at the dog park. He is good with cats as well.
At home, Mano is wonderfully well-behaved. He is fully housebroken and will wait by the door when he needs to go out. He is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night, and can also be trusted loose in the house when left alone with no separation anxiety. He knows sit, down, and paw, is food motivated, and is eager to keep learning. He is working on drop it and leave it, especially during fetch. One fun quirk worth mentioning: he has figured out how to open lever-style doors, so you may want to keep that in mind.
Mano does have a mild tendency to resource guard his favorite people, meaning he can be attention-seeking when other dogs are around, but he is not aggressive and responds well to calm, consistent boundaries. He would do best with a confident handler who enjoys a people-focused dog and can provide him with structure and continued training.
While Mano loves other dogs, he is perfectly content as an only dog with a social adopter who can fill that role. He would also do well in a home with a calm canine companion. He is good around cats and previously lived with kids.
Mano is looking for a home where he can be your shadow, your walking buddy, your fetch partner, and your snuggle companion. If you are searching for a loyal, affectionate dog who will greet you with a wagging tail and end every day curled up beside you, Mano may be your perfect match.
Mano is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly prevention. He is being fostered in the Austin area and his adopter will need to travel to meet him within seven days of approval. He is available for adoption within Texas and Oklahoma only. His adoption fee is $275 and you can complete an adoption application. If you already have an application on file, contact us letting us know you’re interested in Mano.
