Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.
FOSTER PROGRAM
MARLEE
Stats: 2 years old, female
Location: Dallas, TX
Intake: November 2025
Adoption Fee: TBD
Social: #Marlee530
Marlee is a 2 year old standard Aussie/Husky mix who weighs 40 lbs. She is a medium-high energy pup, who is looking for an active and social owner to enjoy life with! She is very affectionate and a very busy girl. She can take a minute to warm up to new people, but once she decides you are a friend, then she will demand all the pets and kisses. She gets along with all dogs and loves to wrestle and play tug.An ideal day for Marlee starts with going to play fetch in a field, where she can run to her hearts desire, and then playing with her foster siblings. The only Husky trait she seems to share is her love of running and cold weather. She is great off leash, not stubborn, and not really vocal. She absolutely loves going anywhere and always gets so excited running back and forth to the door.
Marlee makes a great hiking buddy and enjoys exploring. She absolutely loves stuffed toys and almost always has one in her mouth. She is also a huge ball lover and will play fetch until you take the toy away. She isn’t too sure about frisbees yet but loves to chase them and will chase other dogs while they play fetch. She will wrestle with other dogs all day and enjoys sharing toys and cuddling with them. She seems to prefer male dogs, but will play with females as well. Until she decides she is friends with a dog, she can be territorial of bones and occasionally toys. This seems to be more common with female dogs though. She has also lived with cats and follows their lead. If they want to play, she is all about it; if they want their space, then she respects that as well.
Marlee knows basic commands and is housebroken and crate trained, but cannot be trusted out in the home alone quite yet. She is very puppy like with getting into things and is working on not counter surfing. She can be trusted out overnight and happily sleeps at the foot of the bed. She walks very well on leash, responds quickly to commands, behaves well off leash, and rides nicely in the car. She is SUPER food motivated and ready to do anything for a treat. She is well behaved and nonreactive on leash and in public. She does take a minute to warm up to strangers and will give a couple woofs when they come into her home, but she is all bark — no bite. She will be anyone’s friend for a snack. She really doesn’t like strange people getting in her face, so allowing her to approach first is key. She lived with an infant in her previous home and did ok, but prefer her perfect home to be a little quieter without young kids running in and out. She would benefit from a social adopter to help her become more comfortable with new people.
Marlee does seem to have some allergies but they are easily managed with her diet and Zyrtec as needed.
Marlee is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, Heartworm negative and on monthly Heartworm prevention.
Marlee is being fostered in the Dallas area and will require the adopter to travel to her. Her adoption fee is $275 and you can complete an adoption application online below. If you already have an application on file with us, you can send us a PM or email saying you are interested in Marlee.
Please note: All our dogs are adopted as inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention - NO EXCEPTIONS!
