Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

MAYA
Stats: 6-7 years old, female
Location: TX
Intake: July 2026
Adoption Fee: TBD
Social: #Maya566
Maya was said to be 5 years old, but at her vet visit, they estimated her to be 6-7 years old. She is one of the seven pups who joined LSAR as part of the NOLA 7 rescue from Louisiana.
If there was a spokesperson for the NOLA 7, it was definitely Maya! She wasn’t shy about sharing her thoughts when she wasn't getting attention, and now that she’s settling into foster care, she’s already letting her playful side shine. Maya is more than ready to make friends with her foster siblings and join in on the fun! Maya also arrived with very infected, irritated ears and some flea allergy dermatitis. It's obvious her ears have also battled chronic (likely untreated) infections, but her foster mama has been helping get them cleaned up and medicated, and will continue keeping a close eye on them as she settles in. We’re so glad this sweet, vocal girl is getting the attention and care she needs. She has such a gentle, loving disposition and just soaks up the attention. It's easy to see why one of the shelter employees said she was her favorite out of the group. We have a feeling Maya is going to keep her foster family smiling, and we can’t wait to learn even more about this happy girl! Welcome to LSAR, Maya!
Adoption applications for this pet will not be accepted at this time. All incoming Aussies are evaluated for a minimum 3 weeks to allow to them time to decompress and receive any necessary medical care. Applications will be accepted only when the pet's full and complete bio is posted here/facebook.
