Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

MCGREGGOR
Stats: 8 years old, male
Location: TX
Intake: December 2025
Adoption Fee: TBD
Social: #McGreggor538
Meet McGreggor! Greg is an 8-year-old male mini Aussie, weighing about 30 pounds, though he still needs to lose a few more pounds. He is a medium-energy boy who loves nothing more than playing fetch. If you’re willing to throw, he’s willing to play—and he’ll keep going as long as you do! While he enjoys runs on the trail, neighborhood walks, and fetching balls or frisbees, McGreggor is never hyperactive and can be just as happy cuddling on the couch. He’s the perfect mix of fun and calm.
McGreggor is a polite housemate and a loyal companion. He’s fully housebroken, has great leash manners, and can be trusted to roam the house when you’re away—no separation anxiety. He’s happy riding in the car and always ready for an adventure. Greg knows his basics—sit, down, off, leave it, and recall—and he’s well-behaved both on and off leash. He is very food and toy motivated, making him easy to train.
McGreggor loves all people and doesn’t know a stranger. He will instantly curl up in anyone’s lap. He is also very polite and will sit in front of you to wait patiently for pets. With other dogs, he is polite and submissive, but not very interested in playing. He’s also very respectful with cats and ignores them.
McGreggor loves being around his people but doesn’t cling to one person. He’s happiest when he’s part of the family—whether that’s fetching in an open field, hiking a trail, or relaxing at home. He has great recall, walks right by your side off leash, and is always well-behaved in public places. He has a bit of anxiety when going out and about or just to fetch because he gets so excited that he can’t contain it. He can be very whiney when the leash comes out or he knows he is about to go somewhere, in the car at first, when pulling up to the destination, when he wants the ball thrown, or if you stop on a walk when he wants to keep going. He is learning patience and calm behaviors, but that will take time. He is not a vocal dog at home, even when there is a knock at the door and is completely non reactive on leash.
McGreggor is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly prevention. He is available for adoption to homes within Texas only, and, in some cases, Oklahoma.
McGreggor is being fostered in Dallas and will require the adopter to travel to meet him within 7 days of approval. His adoption fee is $150 and you can complete an adoption application. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us saying you are interested in McGreggor.
Please note: All our dogs are adopted as inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention - NO EXCEPTIONS!
