Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

RANGER
Stats: 3 years old, male
Location: TX
Intake: August 2025
Adoption Fee: TBD
Social: #Ranger527
Welcome Ranger! This 3 year old boy who has the stature of a small standard Aussie, but definitely not the weight of one currently. This poor guy is by far the worst off of the group, both physically and mentally at the moment. He currently weighs 85 WHOPPING pounds . He should weigh half of that, so a weight loss journey is in his immediate future. He's also been shaved down (something we recommend never doing as it ruins the natural coat on double-coated dogs and makes them more susceptible to heat stroke). His poor coat is in terrible condition - dry and flakey. We were able to get him in for his neuter surgery today, and they also found bad ear infection in both ears. To top it off, his poor eyes are red, goopy, swollen messes. Hopefully, that's just allergy related and a relatively easy fix. He's started on all the meds for his current ailments and we hope he will be feeling physically better soon.
Then there's the mental side of it - the original video we saw of Ranger showed him jumping and bouncing around happily in his outdoor pen. The dog we got is utterly terrified, shut down, pancaked on the ground, and afraid to move. He is simply shell-shocked by all the changes in his world and can't process all the new things that he's never experienced before. Finally, he is starting to freely walk around in the house and yard following his foster mom and the resident pups. While it's sad to see how he is now, it will be awesome to see him happy and bouncy like he once was in his familiar environment. We’ll continue to share updates as this sweet boy starts to come out of his shell and gets to know the good life. We've got you, Ranger!
Adoption applications for this pet will not be accepted at this time. All incoming Aussies are evaluated for a minimum 3 weeks to allow to them time to decompress and receive any necessary medical care. Applications will be accepted only when the pet's full and complete bio is posted here/facebook. If interested in this pet, please look for updates on our facebook page or bookmark this page in your browser. Thank you!
