Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - RANGER
Meet Ranger! Ranger is a 9-month-old standard male weighing about 45 pounds, with a soft stunning coat that has the most handsome wispy Aussie curls. He’s a fun, higher-energy puppy who loves chasing butterflies, playing ball, and running around the yard with his dog friends. Ranger also enjoys exploring the trails around his foster home and would enjoy going on hikes. While he loves outdoor adventures and has lots of puppy energy, he’s equally as happy cuddling up on the couch with his people.
Ranger is a polite housemate and a loyal companion. He’s fully housebroken, walks nicely on a leash, and can be trusted to be outside of his crate at night. He goes into his crate well, although he may bark a bit before settling down.
Ranger would do best in a home where someone isn’t gone all day, as he truly thrives on companionship and being part of the family.
Ranger forms deep bonds with his people and loves being close to them. Because of that, he can feel a little anxious when left alone for long periods. With a consistent routine, reassurance, and continued positive reinforcement, he continues to make great progress. He’ll do especially well with a family who will continue to help him build confidence and provide the companionship he loves so much.
He’s a sweet boy who responds best to patience, encouragement, and lots of love. Ranger may take a little time to warm up to new people—especially men—but once he feels safe, he becomes an incredibly devoted and affectionate companion. Continued exposure to new people and experiences will help him continue to grow in confidence.
Ranger is so smart and already knows many of the basics: sit, down, off, come, and paw. He’s currently learning “bow” and “place.” He’s very food motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. Ranger gets very excited when his family comes home and may jump to say hello. With continued training, he’ll learn to channel that enthusiasm into calmer greetings. He’s playful with other dogs and enjoys having canine companions in the home. He has not been tested with cats.
Ranger has had the opportunity to try some AKC dog sports—and he loves them! He especially enjoys chasing the lure in Fast CAT and running through agility tunnels. He would thrive with an active family who enjoys including their dog in fun, engaging activities.
Ranger is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly prevention. He’s being fostered in San Antonio, TX, and his adopter will need to travel to meet him. He is available for adoption within Texas and Oklahoma only. His adoption fee is $325 and you can complete an adoption application. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us saying you are interested in Ranger.
Please note: All our dogs are adopted as inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention - NO EXCEPTIONS!
