Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - ROSE
Meet Rose! She is a beautiful 3½-year-old Australian Shepherd weighing 50 pounds (but still working to lose 5-10 more pounds to achieve her healthiest weight), with a gentle spirit and a heart full of love. While she has the intelligence and loyalty the breed is known for, Rose leans toward the calmer side, making her a wonderful balance of companion and cuddle buddy. She enjoys the simple things in life: long walks, soft toys, and curling up beside you for belly rubs.
At home, Rose is a polite and easygoing presence. She is fully housebroken, crate trained for when you’re away or overnight, and rides quietly in the car like a seasoned traveler.
Rose forms deep, devoted bonds with her people and thrives in a home that offers patience, consistency, and love. She may take a little time to feel comfortable around new men, but once she does, her sweet and affectionate personality truly shines! Her personality is complete with a gentle embrace and soft, loving kisses. With continued positive experiences, her confidence will only continue to grow.
True to her breed, Rose is smart and eager to learn. She already knows several commands including sit, down, off, come, and stay—and her love of treats makes training both easy and enjoyable.
Rose gets along well with neutral energy and easy going dogs and would likely enjoy having a canine companion but would also do well being the only dog in the spotlight. She has not yet been tested with cats.
Though she loves being near her people, Rose also has a nice independent streak and is happy relaxing nearby, keeping a watchful and loving eye on her home.
If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent, and gentle Australian Shepherd who will reward your love with unwavering devotion, Rose may just be your perfect match.
Rose is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly prevention. She’s being fostered in San Antonio, TX, and her adopter will need to travel to meet her. She is available for adoption within Texas and Oklahoma only. Her adoption fee is $275 and you can complete an adoption application. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us saying you are interested in Rose.
Please note: All our dogs are adopted as inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention - NO EXCEPTIONS!
