Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.
FOSTER PROGRAM
ROWDY
Stats: 11 years old, male
Location: TX
Intake: 02/01/2024
Adoption Fee: TBD
Howdy Rowdy! He's an 11.5-year-old boy who was surrendered to a shelter when his owner was moving into assisted living. Those surrenders are especially hard on the heart. Unfortunately, like about every shelter in the south, they were at max capacity and he needed out ASAP. We're thankful they reached out and we had someone who was willing to give him a soft landing. He's a big boy at 73 lbs. and literally has a teddy bear face on an actual bear body. Sadly, he came to the shelter with Heartworms and his gorgeous coat has been shaved so many times, with just the fuzzy undercoat left forever and thick mats down to the skin.
Besides that, he was so stressed out in the new environment and on any car ride. We hope to help make that less scary. We'll help him lean up a bit and of course do what we can safely do to get rid of the Heartworms. A vet visit for a thorough exam, bloodwork, and a dental is in his future, but we're letting him settle a bit first. He's a sweet old lug who just wants to be near his person. We hope he continues to get more comfortable and knows he's safe and loved.
Adoption applications for this pet will not be accepted at this time. All incoming Aussies are evaluated for a minimum 3 weeks to allow to them time to decompress and receive any necessary medical care. Applications will be accepted only when the pet's full and complete bio is posted here/facebook. If interested in this pet, please look for updates on our facebook page or bookmark this page in your browser. Thank you!
