Shiloh555

SHILOH

Stats:  8 years old, male

Location:  Houston, TX

Intake:  May 2026

Adoption Fee: $150

Social: #Shiloh555

Meet Shiloh! He is a lovable, goofy, kiss-giving 8-year-old standard Aussie weighing 56 pounds, with one blue eye, one brown eye, and the most expressive tongue you have ever seen. He is a low-medium energy Aussie who is absolutely convinced that he is a 15-pound lap dog, and honestly, it is hard to argue with this sweet boy!

At home, Shiloh is a shadow and a snuggler. He will watch you with the most adoring expression you have ever seen from a dog, follow you from room to room, and the moment you sit down, he will be in your lap for cuddles and face kisses. After a bit, he will find his own cool spot on the floor or dog bed nearby. He respects bedtime boundaries too, only coming up on the bed if invited, then finding his own spot once he has had his snuggles. He is a perfect gentleman when left alone and can be trusted loose in the house, though he does best when he has company during the day, whether that is his people or another dog. Short stretches alone are fine, but a full workday solo every day would not be the best fit for him.

Shiloh loves his toys and will retrieve, play tug, or try to get you to chase him depending on his mood. If he feels like he is not getting enough attention, he may grab a shoe and parade it around to get a reaction, but he never destroys anything. He also loves to be brushed and will even tolerate nail trims as long as they come with plenty of pets. A daily walk and a few shorter play sessions are enough to keep him happy, as long as they are paired with quality time from his family.

He is amazing at eye contact and quick to learn. He is still working on leash manners and door manners, but responds well to reminders and is not a flight risk. When off leash, he stays close to his person and comes back immediately when called.

Shiloh gets along with everyone, people, dogs, and cats. He is curious and friendly but waits to see if other dogs want to engage, and if they are not interested, he gives them space. He will also wrestle and play tug with dogs who are into it, and backs off at the first sign of a growl until he learns their language. He has even been known to politely observe his foster family’s yard frog from a respectful distance.

Shiloh does have two health considerations his adopter should be aware of and committed to managing. He has sensitive skin that has responded well to a limited-ingredient diet and prescription allergy medication, and any skin irritation needs to be addressed quickly. He also has hip dysplasia with subluxation in both hips. His body has compensated beautifully, and he can run, jump, and even handle light hikes, but he is on gabapentin and carprofen as needed and will need to be monitored for pain after activity. His orthopedic specialist is optimistic that with monitoring and maintenance, he will be a happy and active dog for years to come. His adopter should be prepared for ongoing vet care and committed to giving him the attentive home he deserves. He is currently on daily medications that cost about $50 per month.

Shiloh would do best in a home where someone is around during the day, with another dog or people to keep him company. He would thrive with a family who loves to cuddle and play.

Shiloh is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly prevention. He is being fostered in Houston, TX and his adopter will need to travel to meet him within seven days of approval. He is available for adoption within Texas and Oklahoma only. His adoption fee is $150 and you can complete an adoption application. If you already have an application on file, you can contact us letting us know you’re interested in Shiloh.

Please note: All our dogs are adopted as inside pets and family members only. All current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention — NO EXCEPTIONS!
